February Blogroll

Ah, the beauty of the non-temporal medium! I, who type this to you from the loneliness of a weekday evening, will be basking in the tropical sun of Sri Lanka by the time it appears on the site. Envy me and my equatorialness.

Of course, writing posts in advance does have risks. I do not know and cannot comment upon what news events or moral dilemma the week’s current affairs will present. It will probably involve a cartoon of either the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) or Mark Oaten (Who Is Upon Him?), or hopefully both. I also assume that the UK government will have outlawed, like, books, or something.

So, what better way to fill the void than by reading other sites that will be able to provide instant and contemporary comment? I’ve decided that my announcements of additions to the blogroll should take the form of a monthy round-up, rather than a piecemeal occurence. Here is February, then:

Talk Politics is exactly what a good blog should be: ‘Unity’ not only flags up interesting comments elsewhere, but generates a sizable amount of content on a prolific basis. Much of the analysis includes dissection of legislation, rules, regulations and long forgotten statements that unearth the crucial contradiction or scandal. Important work.

A Big Stick And A Small Carrot writes what I think, sometimes before I’ve thought of it myself.

I have linked to qwghlm on many occasions, but refrained from putting it onto the blogroll primarily because of a recent threat to quit writing. Thankfully, the lure of blogging, or maybe the stupidity of political debate, has inspired Chris to begin his punditry once more. The site also has a pretty cool linklog that inspired me to set one up here.

Clive has been championing Aqoul for a while, and I’m certainly convinced of its worth as a very well read take on affairs in the Middle East and North Africa. It has contributions from all over the region. Another site with plenty of contributors is turbanhead, where I’ve been lurking for a few months now. They post some politcial content but I’m there for the off-the-wall links and images the present from around the web. I like their visual taste and I’m pretty sure some of the collective are designers.

Finally: Girl With A One Track Mind.
