I don't think it's annoying at all, but if it is a "main section" thing rather than a sidebar thing (which is where I put mine) it might force you to write really good descriptions of each link to make it interesting reading..... which could be a good thing!  I sometimes wish I took the care to describe each link well, so that I don't go back and say "why did I grab this again?"</description>
